2020 Democrats Call for Impeaching SC Justice Brett Kavanaugh

Brett Kavanaugh

The Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Brett Kavanaugh, who took to the oath of office in October 2018, was recently accused of the new allegations regarding sexual misconduct, following which the Democratic presidential candidates on Sunday called for his impeachment and investigation in the entire case. A few of these Democrats opposed his nomination in the first place.

According to the witness, Kavanaugh fully exposed himself at a party on Saturday night, where his friends pushed his genitals against a woman without her consent. Calling the entire scenario as a barbaric act, the Democratic hopefuls such as Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Julián Castro, Beto O’Rourke called for Kavanaugh’s impeachment.

Castro and O’Rourke also called him a big liar, who lied under oath about not committing sexual assault.

Moreover, South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg also supported Brett Kavanaugh’s impeachment calls on Sunday evening. The other Democratic candidates such as Bernie Sanders, Amy Klobuchar, Former Vice President Joe Biden and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio supported proper investigation into the new allegations.

Biden, also a presidential hopeful, believes that proper investigations would help in getting to the truth, restoring the American people’s faith in their government. Similarly, Bernie Sanders, who did not actually call for impeachment, claimed that Kavanaugh was lying during the confirmation process. He asked for an “appropriate constitutional mechanism to hold Kavanaugh accountable” for his wrongdoings.

The previous reports suggested that multiple sexual misconduct allegations against Brett Kavanaugh, which were controversial during his Supreme Court nomination in 2018, remained uninvestigated by the FBI.

In September 2018, Christine Blasey Ford gave a testimony against Kavanaugh, accusing him of sexual misconduct, while they were teenagers in the summer of 1982. The accusations did not do much damage to him and he was confirmed by a razor-thin 50-48 margin in the Senate.

Amid the blame-game, the supporters of Brett Kavanaugh came to his aid, calling him innocent in the entire scenario. Kavanaugh, who has previously denied all the allegations, has chosen to remain silent on the new ones.
