Following the ongoing trail of departures, another key figure from the Trump administration takes a leave. On a busy Monday afternoon, witnessing an array of departures, Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White too announced her resignation.
Dana White took to Twitter to announce her withdrawal from the administration. “I appreciate the opportunity afforded to me by this administration to serve alongside Secretary Mattis, our Service members and all the civilians who support them. It has been my honor and privilege. Stay safe and God bless,” she tweeted.
Her resignation followed soon after Secretary Mattis and Brett McGurk gave their final farewell message to the Defense Department.
Secretary Mattis in his farewell message said: “Our Department’s leadership, civilian and military remains in the best possible hands. I am confident that each of you remains undistracted from our sworn mission to support and defend the Constitution while protecting our way of life.”
“Our Department is proven to be at its best when the times are most difficult. So keep the faith in our country and hold fast, alongside our allies, aligned against our foes.”
McGurk while getting relieved, too addressed the department, saying: “I wish my former civilian and military colleagues well as they work under extremely difficult circumstances to protect the interests of our great country. It was a privilege to serve alongside them.”
It is noteworthy that her announcement came amid the last serving days of Defense Secretaries, Jim Mattis and Brett McGurk, the special envoy in the fight against ISIS.
Dana White is one of the most experienced key personnel in the administration to resign. She joined Department of Defense after serving at the Renault-Nissan Alliance in France and at the Heritage Foundation.
It is been speculated that she might have taken a leave from the administration, given ongoing disturbances due to the abrupt Trump policies. She is considered to be amongst those in Trump administration, who don’t want to be a part of Trump’s drowning ship like ex-secretary Mattis.
As per the media reports, former Maine Senator, Charlie Summers who is currently serving as deputy assistant to the secretary of Defense for public affairs, is expected to be promoted to White’s position soon.
